Review/Unboxing: ALL SINNERS – We Own The Night (2025)

The Backstory

After three independent releases and years of local and national gigging, Massachusetts-based Hard Rock & Metal act ALL SINNERS delivers their first full-length studio album We Own The Night.  Freshly signed to Rat Pak Records (home of George Lynch, David Ellefson, Jeff Scott Soto, members of KINGS X, METAL CHURCH and more), the album is set for release on November 14, 2025.  This review is for the vinyl edition.

The Album

One fiery riff leads into another as the guitar laden intro track “Embers Burning” morphs into the album’s lead single “Into The Flames”.  Mike Golarz’s powerful and melodic vocals cut through the guitar mastery of Nick Testone, with both still complementing the other.  Golarz laments that maybe the world needs to start anew on “The Wave”.  Testone rips across the fretboard during the solo section with drummer Roger Chouinard delivering a notable fill.

Power chord riffs dominate the album’s title track “We Own The Night”.  Golarz injects this dark anthem with edgy melodies and throaty wails.  “Lead Me Into Darkness” has some ear catching musical shifts and has more of a rock radio production to it.  One would expect this to be a future single.

Bruce Morrison’s deep basslines sync up with Chouinard’s kick drum and snare to lead the track “So Evil.”  Testone’s licks and bends are eerie and slower, but maintain a level of bluesy soul.  When he returns at the break, he lights it up.  Golarz flexes his emotional and vocal range here.

I have heard “Dead To Rights” live and acoustic a few times already.  This studio version may not have the same punch as the live version (what song does), but it’s still one hell of a catchy tune.  From its hooky chorus to its air-guitar worthy riffage.  Drummer Roger Chouinard’s drum work is prominent during the intro, solo section, and at the song’s conclusion.  His late uncle Bobby Chouinard (BILLY SQUIRE) would be proud.

“World That’s Burning” kicks off with an impressive emphatic vocal wail by Goldarz that could go head-to-head with some of the classic wails of Bruce Dickinson (IRON MAIDEN) or Michael Sweet (STRYPER).  Musically the track is chock full of melody and Hard Rock bombast.  The album’s mid-tempo closer, “The Reason”, is reminiscent of a classic QUEENSRYCHE song, with multi-layered melodies, impassioned vocals, and emotion provoking lyrics.

The Verdict

We Own The Night is an impressive debut by a band that clearly wears the heart & soul of 80s Hard Rock and Metal on their sleeves.  ALL SINNERS are not trying to re-invent the music they grew up with, they’re trying to re-introduce a sound that means so much to a generation who never abandoned the soundtracks to their lives.  I would imagine there are some bands from that era that wish they still sounded this polished on their latest album.
